Vietnam weather in May

This is the first summer month in the North. Hanoi and Halong get hot with temperature revolving around 30°C (85°F). Sapa is still cloudy like much of the northeast while the northwest (Dien Bien Phu) are experiencing the hottest month of year. There are more downpours and thunderstorms in the whole regions.

Hue and Hoian are yet to be on the peak of the hot season but temperatures may rise to 35°C (95°F) in the midday. Also, it is drier with little rain.

Nha Trang is still in great conditions for a perfect retreat while Ho Chi Minh city is entering the rainy season. This south’s largest city observes more downpours but they happen very quickly and do an excellent job in lowering the daytime heat. Make sure to find a good hide if you see black cloud suddenly appearing on the sky.
