Hue is a beautiful, dreamy and romantic city in Vietnam. It had been Vietnam’s capital for 400 years (1558-1945). The beauty of Hue is famous for Huong River and Ngu Mountain, which are also known as its symbols. Within hundreds years of history, the Imperial City of Hue owns the ancient and solemn outward. The kindness of people here and their soft, sweet voice also make the city more attractive to the tourists. In Hue, you can easily find many big, famous mall centers beside Huong River bank such as Dong Ba, Tay Loc, An Cuu, Ben Ngu, Thuan Thanh supermarket, Phong Phu Plaza, etc. There are over 1000 dishes in Hue’s style, which are passed by tradition till now with skillful processing, seductive taste and attractive color. Hue Festival is held every 2 years from 2000. This is the national and international major cultural event that has an important meaning for the Hue people’s life.
In the center of the city, beside the north bank of Huong River, the complex of Hue Monument, including Hue Capital, Hue Royal Citadel and Hue Imperial Palace, is one of the most famous places. This is the model of smoothly harmonious combination between the Eastern and Western elite of architecture, which is set in a natural landscape with many natural symbols like Ngu Binh Mountain, Huong River, Gia Vien islet, Boc Thanh islet... In 11th December 1993, it is recognized as the World Cultural Heritage. In 7th November 2003, Hue royal ceremonial music was recognized by UNESCO as the World intangible cultural heritage as well.
Hue used to be Vietnamese Buddhist’s capital. It owns the most number of temples and pagodas in Vietnam such as Thien Mu, Huyen Khong, Bao Quoc, Tu Hieu, Truc Lam, Tu Dam, etc which have become special tourist attractions for long time. In present, Hue saves and conserves over 100 old pagodas, all still keep its Eastern and Vietnam architecture.
Hue garden house is not only a spatial arrangement between landscape and architecture, but also an important heritage of Hue with its cultural and historical values. Many famous gardens was built along Huong River banks, at Long Ho, Ngoc Ho, Nguyet Bieu, Luong Quan, Kim Long, Duong Xuan, Vi Da, etc.
The international airport Phu Bai in Hue is the 4th largest airport in number of passengers in Vietnam. There are also buses and taxies from the airport to the whole city.
