Tan Son Nhat airport catches fire

The domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat international airport suddenly caught a fire at 3.00am on October 27, delaying a number of flights there.

Thanks to the brave efforts of 100 firemen and 30 fire engines, the fire was controlled at 6.00am.

It was said that the fire was probably caused by faulty wiring starting from passenger moving walkway No. 7, near the terminal’s restaurant.

An initial report said that the fire severely damaged the waiting-room, VIP room and shops of the airport’s domestic terminal and injured at least two firemen. The domestic terminal was later announced to be under 24-hour shutdown for repair.

The incident delayed all domestic and international flights from the airport and local flights have been moved to board at the international terminal, according to the airport’s authorities.
