The year 2010 was declared as the Vietnam Year of Tourism in anticipation of the 1000 years anniversary of the city of Hanoi (Thang Long) to be officially celebrated between 1 – 10 October 2010.
Hanoi is the oldest capital in South East Asia and was able to conserve its architecture in it's city center. The center, away from western style modern complexes, charms tourists from around the globe. The city is considered the heart of Vietnam and is the symbol of culture and a source of pride throughout the history.
Celebrations will take place throughout the year and throughout the country. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh commented: “The Year of National Tourism 2010 is a chance for our capital to mark a historical milestone, promoting Ha Noi’s thousand years as a friendly and hospitable city to local and international friends, which will improve the city’s tourism sector in particular and national tourism in general".?
