A dedicated shopping day around Hanoi

Spend a day dedicated to visit the crafts villages along the Red River Delta. Start with a visit to the Museum of Ethnology, a living museum open since 1997 in partnership with the Museum of Mankind in Paris and dedicated to the study of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.

The Red River Delta is the cradle of Vietnamese handicrafts since centuries. Produce includes Ceramics, Fans and Birdcages, Paper, Conical hats, Block prints, Lacquer, Bamboo and Wickerwork, Incense stick, Metal beating, Food processing, Mother of Pearl and Eggshells inlaying on lacquer objects d’art, Medical plants, Rattan weaving and Embroidery.

After all this, visit the old quarter of Hanoi with its “36 Streets or Guildes”. Narrow streets, each named after the produce it sells or used to sell, create a mix of smell, color, noise, curiosity and the wish that time should stop.
